Cuba Highlights

Holguin

The city of Holguin is steeped in history and seems to have it all, from well-preserved archaeological sites, beautiful Diving and Fishing spots and a vast cultural heritage. Behind its main square there are several colonial churches and early monuments. There are six parks in town often referred to fondly as ‘the city of parks’.

One of the attractions in this ancient, 1523 city is la Loma de la Cruz, or Hill of the Cross, to the west of town. This hill is thought to be the site of the original Holguin settlement and the cross on it the cause of the beginning of “Las Romerias de Mayo” (May processions).

The province also features beautiful beaches such as Guardalavaca, Esmeralda, Pesquero, Estero Ciego and Don Lino. Diving and Fishing adventures, sailing, eco trails and other culture related activities.
